{"id":283,"date":"2013-10-01T00:05:15","date_gmt":"2013-10-01T05:05:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lithoguru.com\/wordpress\/?p=283"},"modified":"2014-05-14T12:30:19","modified_gmt":"2014-05-14T17:30:19","slug":"i-make-this-suit-look-good","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lithoguru.com\/life\/?p=283","title":{"rendered":"I make this suit look good"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lithographers don&#8217;t get to see me in a suit.  <\/p>\n<p>When I first started working in the semiconductor industry, I started out wearing a tie to conferences (I didn&#8217;t own a suit back then), but quickly realized that not only were ties optional, you were better off not wearing them.  Sales and marketing folks wore ties.  To an engineer, wearing a tie made you suspect.  I quickly ditched the ties.<\/p>\n<p>Except in Japan.  When I started traveling to Japan in the early 1990s, I bought some suits.  Those are still my only suits (and they still fit &#8230; barely).  But I stopped wearing them 10 years ago even to Japan.  The trend towards casual has caught up to the conservative corporate culture of Japan.<\/p>\n<p>So, most of my friends in the lithography world have never seen me in a suit.  Well, here is what it looks like.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/20131001-speaking_in_hong_kong.jpg\" width=\"541\" height=\"348\" title=\"speaking_in_hong_kong.jpg\" alt=\"speaking_in_hong_kong.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I gave a talk last week at an investment banker conference in Hong Kong.  Suit required.
